Hello Year 3
Task:
In this lesson, children will find the totals of two or more lengths given in centimetres, metres or simple combinations of both units. They will convert answers into millimetres, centimetres or metres as appropriate. Children may find conversions between centimetres and metres challenging. The examples in this lesson are quite simple, mainly using lengths that are multiples of 10 cm or 5 cm. This should help ensure that children can see the connections between the units – that 150 cm is the same as 1 m 50 cm, and so on – and build their understanding of the various conversions and equivalences. To support ask: What is 100 cm equivalent to? So, what would 150 cm be if you converted it into metres and centimetres?
