Task:
In this lesson, children will solve a range of 1- and 2-step problems based on the interpretation of bar charts. Some children may misinterpret the operation that is required to answer questions presented in words. To help address this, draw attention to the structure of the question: What is the question asking you to do? Will this involve addition or subtraction? Do you have to carry out more than one step?
