Maths

Hello everyone!

Task:

In this lesson, children will add amounts of money that are given in pounds and pence.

Some children may not add the correct numbers. For example, they may add £1 and 88 pence together and get 89 as they have added 1 and 88. Children need to understand the importance of the units.  To support ask: Which are the pounds and which are the pence? Children may add the pounds and pence separately but leave the pence answer greater than £1. For example, when finding the total of £1 and 89 pence and £2 and 62 pence, children may answer £3 and 151 pence.  To support ask: How many pence are in one pound? Can you write this another way?
