Hello everyone!

Task:

Find and collect two small rocks (this could be in your garden or you could collect some on a walk). See if you can find two different looking rocks. Bring the rocks inside/ home.

Experiment 1: Test the Permeability of the rocks. You can do this by poring some water over both of the rocks. If a rock is permeable, it will allow water to pass through it. Rocks that are impermeable do not allow water to pass through. Check both rocks and fill in the worksheet to say if the rocks were permeable or impermeable.

Experiment 2: Test the Density of the rocks. Density can be checked by testing the buoyancy (whether they float in water) of rocks. You will need a bowl of water. High density rocks sink whereas low density rocks float. Check both rocks and fill in the worksheet to say if the rocks have a high density or a low density.
