Welcome to our St John Fisher curriculum page. We offer all of our children a broad and balanced curriculum which is underpinned by our school mission. Our curriculum is meaningful, relevant and memorable for children.
We are proud of our curriculum offer and have carefully considered the aims and content of our learning sequences to ensure they are progressive, coherent and engaging for our children. We have explored the best ways for our children to ‘remember more’ and therefore ‘know more’ utilising tools such as knowledge organisers and a strengthened approach to home learning. Our children are given opportunities to build on what they have learnt and apply knowledge to new situations. We have woven extensive cultural capital opportunities into our curriculum ensuring that all of our pupils, irrespective of background, are given good quality experiences and knowledge to ensure that they are fully equipped for a successful future.
We have worked collaboratively with our local Catholic Schools to develop subject knowledge amongst our staff and find the best possible ways for children to learn. We ensure that we address emotional needs throughout the curriculum as well as through a targeted approach. This ensures a readiness to learn and the ability to progress to the next phase. We work closely with our local secondary school, St Thomas Aquinas, and have looked at how our knowledge based curriculum can be a successful foundation for future learning. Understanding the expectations of the next key stage has enabled us to plan opportunities for a challenging curriculum that prepares children well for the next stage of learning. Careful consideration is given to SEND to ensure they can access our full curriculum offer and be exposed to the rich opportunities afforded to all.
