Task:
Today we are multiplying a 2-digit number by a 1- digit number. In this lesson, children will use the expanded method to solve 2-digit by 1-digit number multiplications. They will demonstrate a secure understanding of partitioning and place value in their calculations. Children may not partition correctly, i.e. breaking down 34 × 3 into 3 × 3 and 4 × 3, instead of 30 × 3 and 4 × 3.
